Mindful Morning

Surrender

Sometimes surrender means giving up trying to understand and becoming comfortable with not knowing
– Eckhart Tolle

(June 2022 pre-recording)

Materials: pen, paper or journal

We begin this session with a creative exercise.

With your eyes closed, draw the following:

a square, a circle, a triangle and finally what you had for breakfast/lunch/dinner

Now, draw the image shown in the video/below with your non-dominant hand

This creative exercise, helps you to surrender and let go of any expectations you may have had to the outcome, or expectations towards yourself e.g., to be “good at drawing”.

Surrender allows us to release what isn´t serving us, it’s not about giving up, it is about letting go of expectations and shoulds and allows us to be present at the moment – what’s best for me, now?

When we trust and surrender and let go of the desired control/outcome we open our hearts to the beauty of each moment

We can create space for surrender, by practicing art, meditation or journaling, or whatever activity helps us, to be fully present in the moment.

During the meditation we use the following affirmations to help us surrender more fully:

Affirmation

“I am letting go”

“I surrender to the universe”

“I am nourished”

After the meditation, you are invited to do some journaling or contemplation,

What does SURRENDER mean to you?

Where do you practice it (easily) in your life?

What does SURRENDER feel like?

Give yourself 3-5 min to complete this exercise. Set a timer on your phone. Putting yourself under time pressure, allows you to stay spontaneous, and helps you to remain in your head versus your head 😉
